We hope you’re sitting down, because this may be our most exciting box reveal yet! It’s the first one since Russell Davis—former co-star of and expert on Spike TV’s Bar Rescue and Nightclub & Bar’s 2012 Bartender of the Year—joined our team as Chief Cocktail Officer!
We’re calling it Vodka, Adventures, and Spring, Oh My!, and it’s jam-packed with goodies! (Keep reading to get the pun.) Subscribe now through April 30th to get yours—it’ll ship the week of May 3rd.
In this month’s box, we’re treating vodka as a blank canvas on which you can paint anything you want, and we’re so excited to bring you these three works of cocktail art:
For Under Sage Drinking—created by Russell Davis himself—we’re mixing the richness of cherry preserves with a sweet elderflower syrup and the vanilla notes of Meyer lemon juice for a complex balance of tart, floral, warm, citrus, and, of course—the earthiness of sage!
Our Shrub-a-Dub-Dub cocktail was created by Kate Gerwin, who is famous for being the first American and first woman to become the Bols Bartending World Champion in 2014. She has encyclopedic knowledge of food preparation and history as well as extensive experience in proper bartending. Her refreshing and tangy cocktail is made with basil syrup, sparkling water, and—the star of the show—a house-made strawberry-rhubarb shrub (a vinegar-based syrup that you’ll have to taste to believe)!
The sweet warmth of honey* and orange blossoms laced with the bite of black peppercorns adds such flavor and punch to Ralston’s Black Peppered Old Fashioned that you may forget which spirit you’re sipping. And we know you’re curious to try a vodka old fashioned! This cocktail was created by Danny Ronen, who has a great nose and uses it to sniff out what’s new and exciting in the world of international wine/spirits/food/travel. His writing and recipes/creations can be found in Vanity Fair, SF Chronicle, The New York Times, and Imbibe Magazine.
We hope you’ll enjoy Vodka, Adventures, and Spring, Oh My!
Cheers,
The Shaker & Spoon Team
*This cocktail does contain honey—so it’s not vegan.
I would go on this adventure. Oh my! 🙂
